Robert Milk, Professor and Director of Bicultural-Bilingual Studies at UTSA, holds MA degree in linguistics, foreign language education and a PhD in curriculum and teacher education with concentration in bilingual/ cross-cultural education from Stanford University.
Teaching
At UTSA, Dr. Milk has taught graduate and undergraduate courses in the areas of bilingual education foundations, research and testing, ESL theory and methods, bilingualism, and multicultural education.
Research and Publications
Dr. Milk's scholarly interests have focused on bilingual teacher preparation and on classroom-centered research in bilingual settings. Among his publications are numerous articles dealing with bilingualism in education appearing in NABE Journal, TESOL Quarterly, Hispanic Journal of Behavioral Sciences, Bilingual Review, Journal of Multilingual Multicultural Development, National Society for the Study of Education Yearbook, andNCBE Focus Series.
Awards and Grants
Robert Milk was awarded a Title VII doctoral fellowship at Stanford University during 1976-1979, and a Fulbright grant as Senior Lecturer in Peru in 1982. At UTSA, he has directed six Title VII projects funded through the US Department of Education for preparation of bilingual education personnel.
Professional Service
Dr. Milk has served as president of the San Antonio Area Association for Bilingual Education, and currently serves on the Executive Board for the Texas Association for Bilingual Education.
